It's that time of year again to start reviewing what this winters' ski season has to offer. Planning your ski vacation package can be quite a daunting task. And the most difficult aspect is figuring out which resort is best for your needs. This article is about Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, its facilities, services and basic information on its skiable properties.

Jackson Hole is a Ski Resort, not a ski area, meaning it is a great destination for a ski vacation package because it has all the amenities you could want, gourmet dinning, 5-star lodging (some with ski in and ski out access), a state of the art lift system and superb customer service.

The ski resort itself is located at Teton Village, Wyoming about 12 miles northwest of Jackson, Teton County. There is a local airport serving the community, Jackson Hole Airport which it great especially if you're flying in from a long distances.

Many of the world most renowned free skiers reside in Jackson's Hole because the terrain famously is considered being some of the most challenging in North America. Another fact that attracts so many expert skiers is the vast amount of terrain that is thought of as 'back-country' meaning its not groomed or cared for by the owning entity of the resort and mountain, because its considered to be out of bounds. Don't let this scare you off if you are one of the many skiers who don't consider themselves 'experts', the ski area consists of two large mountains that encompass 2,496 acres which has 116 runs for all experience level of skiers and riders. The runs break down as follows: 50% for expert skiers, 40% for intermediate, and 10% for beginners. So there is no lack of space if your just learning to ski you first time at Jackson.

The resort has a base elevation of 6,311 ft and a summit elevation of 10,450, that's quite a rate of change, a stellar vertical drop for you downhill alpine skiers! The longest run is nearly 4.5 miles making it one of the longest single runs in the country. Don't forget the with an annual snow fall of 459 inches your sure to have some fresh powder to thrash through.
