Types of alpine skiing events at the Olympics

The event in Alpine skiing at the Olympics has both men and women in competitions. Events are mostly individual. All events begin with the skier who pushes a bar. The times are recorded in a 100 second. There are five events in total. Two are for speed (downhill and super G), two are for the technical (giant slalom and slalom) and one is mixed (combined).

The Downhill Race:This event is the longest course with the fastest speed possible. The course is very steep and the skiers race down the course and distant ports, with a few curves. The course is usually an average of 30 meters wide.

The super-G Race: This event is also known as Super Giant Slalom known. The race is a combination of downhill and giant slalom style. The race is down to the bottom and there are more goals. Each skier makes a run-downa single course.

The giant slalom, a shorter course of the Super-G races with multiple ports and sharper curves. A skier goes down twice on two different fields. Top 30 from the first run, then run to qualify for the second. The best combined time over two runs is the winner.

Slalom: This event is the shortest way with the best lap. As the giant slalom, skiing completed two drops of two differentFormats for the same slope. The fastest form of the first 30 to qualify for the second Run Run.

The super-combination: This event consists of a track followed by a slalom course with a shorter path. The best combined time wins.

The alpine skiing events will be in the Olympics 2010 Winter Games from February 14 to 27, 2010. The competition will be in Whistler Creekside, instead of a quick four kilometers from WhistlerVillage.
